alright alright alright
First off I use to sort Jason into Gryffindor so I totally totally get it but let me introduce you into the glory that is Hufflepuff Jason Grace.
So Huffllepuff traits are hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play. They are known to have a strong moral code, a sense of right and wrong, and are considered the most inclusive house. They are just.
For me, this is the perfect house for Jason because he both values these characteristics and has these characteristics himself.
Jason is kind, gentle, humble, and, importantly, has a strong sense of honor and justice. That is the key part.
Jason values fair play. He has a a distinct right and wrong and a strong moral compass. He’s the person to always do the right thing even when it’s the hardest thing to do. (my boy)
“Jason’s calmness again reminded me of Fred Rogers, but in an exasperating way. How could anyone be so accepting and levelheaded all the time?” - Apollo, Trials of Apollo
His fatal flaw is the temptation to deliberate which basically means he is overcome by having to think carefully about his choices. He has to hear both sides of the debate, has to be fair about his decision. (Honestly this probably the result of growing up as a praetor/leader.) And like if you guys were looking for a true Hufflepuff fatal flaw there ya go.
And not to go off onto a different tangent, but like I mentioned in a my other post, Percy and Jason were written to parallel each other but are ultimately foils. Puff Jason and Slytherin Percy beautifully encompass this because while Jason and Percy are similar in key ways with their senses of fairness and their loyalty, the way they act on these attributes ultimately make them entirely opposite:
Jason values justness, fairness, and he himself will act on these values. Percy also values fairness in the fact that he hates uneven playing fields (whether it be through bullies, gods, monsters, etc) but he himself doesn’t encompass that trait of fair play. He relies on trickery and manipulation and cunning.
With the loyalty aspect, they’re both extremely loyal to their friends but, once again, this makes them entirely opposite. Where Percy would sacrifice the world to save his friends (will use any means to achieve his ends) ….. I don’t think Jason would be able to. That’s where his fatal flaw would kick in. Which once again highlights the distinction between the two and ultimately my respective sortings for them.
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal.
My son Jason Grace is a Hufflepuff through and through and I love him.
